European Pub Quiz in Berane – A Successful Story Across Montenegro

Good spirit, teamwork, and engaging questions also marked the final edition of the European Pub Quiz in Berane, bringing to a close a tour that spanned several Montenegrin towns. Following events in Podgorica, Nikšić, Bar, Budva, and Bijelo Polje, the final quiz gathered participants thus wrapping up the story of knowledge with 62 teams and around 250 competitors across Montenegro.

Through dynamic rounds, teams tested their knowledge of the European Union, its Member States, culture, history, and interesting facts, while also demonstrating that positive energy and teamwork are just as important as the final score. European Pub Quiz tour once again confirmed strong interest in formats that successfully combine education and entertainment, contributing to a more vibrant social life in towns across Montenegro.

In Berane, first place was won by the team “23”, while teams “84300” and “Vasojevići” found themselves in the middle and at the lower end of the table, reinforcing that the quiz was, above all, an opportunity for socialising and a great atmosphere.

This quiz was very interesting. I think it is something extremely important for young people, as they are not learning enough about the European Union, Montenegro’s accession process and Euro-Atlantic integration in general, so this quiz represents an excellent initiative,” emphasised participant Marko Vulević.

Participant Nikola Marković added that he would like to see more similar events in Montenegro: “It’s creative, and that makes the night more relaxed.”

The Ministry of European Affairs stated that such initiatives aim to bring European integration closer to citizens through a different, more direct format.

Through European Pub Quiz, we wanted to talk about the European Union and the process of European integration in a way that is closer to citizens – through play, team spirit, and an informal atmosphere. The responses across all towns show that there is a strong interest in this content, but also that it contributes to a better understanding of European topics and the accession process. Our goal is for Montenegro to become the 28th member of the European Union, and formats like this help bring that path closer to citizens and make it more understandable,” the Ministry stated.

European Pub Quiz was organised by the Ministry of European Affairs and the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, through the EU4ME and Europe House projects, in cooperation with the quiz author Zoran Miljanić.
