New Weather Stations within the IPA ClimBeach Project

The Public Enterprise for Coastal Zone Management of Montenegro has installed three weather stations at the locations of Plavi Horizonti, Utjeha and Pizana, as part of the IPA ClimBeach project. The aim of this activity is to improve the monitoring of beach conditions and climate in the coastal area, particularly in the context of beach erosion, rising sea levels and extreme weather events. The collected data will be used for the analysis of climate change and sustainable development planning.

“The Public Enterprise for Coastal Zone Management of Montenegro continues to implement activities aimed at preserving and sustainably managing the coastal area, with the active inclusion of scientific and technical tools for the protection of the marine estate,” a representative of the Public Enterprise highlighted.

The weather stations will enable the collection of key data on weather and climate parameters, representing an important step towards strengthening the capacity to adapt to climate change in the coastal zone.

“The collected data will be used for the analysis of long-term trends, risk assessment and sustainable coastal development planning,” as stated from the Public Enterprise.

The ClimBeach project is being implemented through the Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Croatia–Bosnia and Herzegovina–Montenegro 2021–2027.

The total value of the project is €1,785,195.60 which is shared among five partners, with €512,076.60 allocated to the Public Enterprise. The project has a planned duration of 36 months.
