Professional, high-quality, and independent journalism is one of the fundamental values upon which the community of European states is built. Freedom of expression and independent media are fundamental values of the European Union (EU) and important elements in Montenegro’s European integration process. Aware of the fact that professional, responsible, transparent, but also financially sustainable media are the backbone of any democratic society, the EU continuously monitors and strengthens Montenegrin media through various projects, programs, education, and investments.
