Think critically and check the facts. Foster a responsible relationship with the media.
To mark Media Literacy Week, Europe House, in cooperation with the Young European Ambassadors network, is organising a series of workshops dedicated to media literacy.
During the first workshop, pupils and university students learnt how to recognise fake news and analyse manipulative content.
The special guest at the first session was influencer Filip Petrović, who spoke to participants about the responsibility of influencers in shaping narratives, the pressures of online authenticity, and the risks of spreading misinformation.
The second workshop, “Disinformation and Digital Literacy in the Digital Age”, will take place on 29 October and will be led by Snežana Nikčević, a civic technology advocate and creative producer from the NGO 35mm.
This workshop will provide an interactive space for discussion on critical thinking, understanding what it means to be digitally literate, and why media and digital literacy are an integral part of functional literacy in the digital age we live in.

“Through dialogue and practical examples, participants will reflect on how disinformation and other information disorders, such as filter bubbles, mass micro-targeting, and data manipulation, are linked to the use of artificial intelligence and language models such as ChatGPT, and how all of this shapes our perception of reality,” said Dado Dervanović, Media Literacy Officer at Europe House in Podgorica.
The final workshop, “The Voice of Youth on Media Literacy”, is scheduled for 31 October.
“During the closing event, the Young European Ambassadors will share their experiences and jointly define what being media literate means to them,” Dervanović added.
Media Literacy Week is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness about the importance of critical thinking, fact-checking, and responsible engagement with the media. In the Western Balkans – a region where young people are increasingly exposed to disinformation, digital manipulation, and polarised media narratives – empowering with media literacy skills is essential for building a resilient, well-informed society.
