Europe House Celebrates Its Third Birthday

“Super Stella 2” and EU Member States Fair

Europe House celebrated its third birthday surrounded by children. To mark this anniversary the premiere of the second edition of the comic book Super Stella was organised. This comic book was created in collaboration with the embassies of EU member states and in the spirit of the “Team Europe” initiative. It offers an engaging journey through the countries of the European Union.

Around fifty pupils from “Vuko Jovović” Primary School (Danilovgrad) took part in an extraordinary educational adventure during a mini fair of EU Member States. This fair featured the embassies of France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Poland. The children discovered interesting facts about cultures, languages, and traditions.

Super Stella is our way of bringing the values of the European Union closer to children – through play, storytelling and recognisable characters. The children’s enthusiasm today confirms that we learn from one another as we grow together,” said Saša Pailbrk from Europe House.

“I liked Super Stella the most because she teaches others, and the comic is really fun – I can’t wait to read all the adventures,” said one of the participants, a girl named Jana Babić.

The children were among the first to receive a copy of the comic book and to meet the comic artist Ilija Nikčević, who, through his illustrations brought Super Stella’s new adventures to life.

“The adventure of Super Stella, Tara and the Owl is wonderful and magical. My task of portraying it through drawings was a real adventure, too. Some might think illustrating Stella is a job, but to me, it’s a true adventure. It’s a privilege to be part of her Super Team,” Ilija emphasised.

Through the characters of the girl Tara, the wise Owl, and the heroine Super Stella – who symbolises the values of the European Union – children learn in a fun and creative way about solidarity, tolerance, knowledge, unity, and the richness of diversity that defines the European Union.

At the end of the programme, the children had the chance to watch a performance of Super Stella, a theatre play, prepared by actress Sanja Popović, based on the comic’s script.

As part of the celebration, Naše voće, an IPARD-supported juice factory, gifted juices to the children in honour of Europe House’s birthday.
