Erasmus+ Opportunities in the Northern Region of Montenegro

A promotional event entitled “Erasmus+ Opportunities in the North of Montenegro” was successfully held at the premises of the Europe House in Bijelo Polje. The event was organised by the National Erasmus+ Office in Montenegro in cooperation with Europe House Bijelo Polje.

Participants had the opportunity to learn about open Erasmus+ calls, mobility opportunities and cooperation with European partners, as well as to receive practical advice on preparing project proposals. Special emphasis was placed on inclusion, diversity, digital development and sustainability.

The event brought together pupils, students, representatives of educational institutions and municipalities, as well as youth and sports organisations from northern Montenegro, creating a valuable space for exchanging experiences and networking.

The Director of the National Erasmus+ Office in Montenegro, Vanja Drljević, highlighted that it is very important for youth and relevant institutions to prepare for full participation in the programme in the future, stressing that Erasmus+ offers long-term benefits for improving the education system and strengthening international cooperation.

As stated during the event at Europe House, one of the key objectives is to ensure a more balanced participation of all regions of Montenegro in the Erasmus+ programme, particularly the northern region, which has so far not made sufficient use of the programme’s potential.

Rina Muhaj, Project Adviser at the Erasmus+ Office, emphasised that the focus is on secondary school pupils, students and organisations working with youth, with the aim of bringing concrete opportunities closer to them and encouraging more active participation.

“Given that the north of Montenegro is not as well represented in this programme as the central region, our goal is to reach as many pupils from vocational secondary schools, students and non-governmental organisations working with young people as possible. We are here to explain everything they can achieve by developing their capacities,” Muhaj pointed out.

Ljiljana Gogić from the National Erasmus+ Office also spoke about opportunities for development and capacity-building, emphasising that, through cooperation with European partners, Montenegrin institutions and organisations have the chance to develop projects that contribute to higher-quality education, greater inclusion and sustainable development.

Europe House Bijelo Polje continues to serve as a space for dialogue, information-sharing and connecting young people and institutions with European programmes and initiatives, with the aim of enabling young people from northern Montenegro to participate more actively in programmes that support their personal and professional development.
