The Agency for Payments in Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries received vehicles as part of the IPA – II 2021 project “EU Support to the Agricultural Sector in Montenegro”.
To mark the occasion, the Ambassador of the European Union to Montenegro, Johann Sattler, and Deputy Head of the Cooperation Section at the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, Liselote Isaksson, visited the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management.
The procurement of vehicles and other equipment, worth €470,000, has strengthened the technical and logistical capacities of the Agency for Payments in Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, particularly for field inspectors. In addition to vehicles, equipment necessary for day-to-day fieldwork has also been provided, including tablets with cameras, inspection cameras, GPS communication devices, and appropriate protective equipment.
As part of the project, a backup system was also procured for the Agency for Payments, contributing to the security and reliability of data from the information system.
The Ambassador of the European Union to Montenegro, Johann Sattler, highlighted the importance of the EU’s concrete support for Montenegrin institutions in strengthening administrative and technical capacities in the agricultural sector. Support through this significant EU-funded project represents a concrete example of EU–Montenegro cooperation in strengthening institutional capacities and creating conditions for the more effective implementation of shared policies and standards in the agricultural sector.
Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Vladimir Joković emphasised the importance of continued European Union support in strengthening institutions and improving support for Montenegro’s agricultural sector.
“European Union support represents an important contribution to strengthening the capacities of our institutions and creating better conditions for the effective implementation of agricultural support measures. Modern equipment and improved logistics will further strengthen the work of the Agency for Payments, particularly when it comes to field inspections and the application of European standards,” Minister Joković said.
The improved equipment and logistical capacities of the Agency for Payments will contribute to more effective field inspections, greater information system security, and the further strengthening of a transparent and reliable support system for Montenegrin farmers.
