The workshop on the “National Policy Framework for Alternative Fuels Infrastructure”, organised by the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Energy and Mining, will be held on 16 September at Europe House in Podgorica. The workshop aims to identify priorities and directions for the development of alternative fuels infrastructure, taking into account market needs, energy transition objectives and European standards.
The workshop is part of the process of developing Montenegro’s first National Policy Framework for Alternative Fuels Infrastructure, as part of a project financed by the European Union.
The opening remarks will be delivered by Božidar Savović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Transport; Matija Medojević, State Secretary at the Ministry of Energy and Mining; and Kai Nagel, Programme Manager at the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro. The presentation entitled “Montenegro’s Transition towards Alternative Fuels Infrastructure” will be delivered by Mette Hoé, an EU expert in strategic transport planning and urban development and the author of the study, who will also moderate the workshop.
The National Policy Framework for Alternative Fuels Infrastructure is a strategic planning document that defines the objectives, measures, and timeline for developing alternative fuels infrastructure, and represents an important step towards achieving energy transition objectives and developing sustainable mobility.
The development of this document also represents an alignment with European legislation and the requirements of the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR).
The event aims to present the National Policy Framework to key stakeholders and exchange views on future objectives, strategic directions, and practical steps for developing alternative fuels infrastructure in Montenegro.
Through three thematic sessions, participants will discuss key aspects of the development of alternative fuels infrastructure, with a particular focus on cooperation between the transport and energy sectors, the current state and development prospects of the alternative fuels market, as well as alignment with the European regulatory framework.
The conclusions of the workshop will make an important contribution to the further preparation of the National Policy Framework, with the aim of ensuring that future solutions are aligned with national priorities, market needs and European standards in the transport and energy sectors.
The workshop is organised as part of the project “Technical Assistance to Strengthen Capacities and Improve Compliance with Legislation, Performance and Efficiency in the Transport Sector in Montenegro”, financed by the European Union.
The project is implemented by a consortium led by DAI Global Belgium, in partnership with GIZ and ENOVA.
