Europe House Bijelo Polje organised an interactive lecture titled “Blue North – Protecting Our Rivers,” to mark World Water Day. This event served as the introductory part of a series of activities dedicated to protecting River Lim and a clean-up action along its banks at the Sinjavac city beach.
The lecture was delivered by Professor Tomislav Tomović, a distinguished biology teacher at the “Miloje Dobrašinović” Secondary School. Tomović highlighted the importance of water as an irreplaceable resource, and the challenges faced by the River Lim and its tributaries.

Particular focus was placed on waste accumulation along riverbanks, the large number of illegal dumping sites, and the need to strengthen environmental awareness and improve infrastructure, including the construction of wastewater treatment systems.

Through a clear, accessible presentation, participants had the opportunity to gain new knowledge about water protection and the importance of a responsible approach to the environment, as well as to familiarise themselves with specific challenges in the local community.
As part of marking World Water Day, a clean-up action was organised along a section of the Lim River bank at Sinjavac Beach. The activity involved students from the “Miloje Dobrašinović” Secondary School and Marko Miljanov Primary School. The action was supported by the municipal utility company “Lim”.
